Got a question for you guys. Gave up the 6 Plus in favor of Android. Don’t know how long this will last but I got the Nexus 6 on AT&T and am really liking it. I agree it’s too slippery so case is already on order. My question is I have 14 days to see what phone I want and was just wondering what you guys would pick? I like Lollipop but always think twice when looking at the Note. I’ve tried the Note 3 and didn’t ever use the stylus and then went to the iPhone and really liked the size.

Love the show.

Hi Guys,

Faithful listener here. Keep up the great show. I wanted your opinion on something.

I have been using a Samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0 for the last year (I bought it before the Nexus 7 came out). I just saved up for a Nexus 7 as I want that pure android and nexus experience right out of the box. I was hoping this past Google I/O was going to announce an updated version coming out which I was going to pull the trigger on, but it never happened.

What’s your take on buying the current Nexus 7 now? It still seems to be the top 7 inch android device. (I did look into a iPad mini as I could have used it for reviews also for the iOS blog I contribute to, but the bang for the buck and features is definitely with the Nexus 7. I use iOS still on my original iPad, but I Iike the mini size).

Thanks,

Louis Senecal

Hey guys,

An article you may want to go over in tonight’s Simulcast: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-sony-mandates-vita-remote-play-for-ps4-games

Sony have confirmed that almost all PS4 games must be able to be remotely played in the Vita, unless they require extra hardware (such as the PS Eye or other peripherals).

It’s a bit like what the Wii U was trying to do with the larger game pad, but this will be for virtually every game. It should be good for a) people who regularly fight over watching TV or playing games and b) for Sony shifting Vitas.

Slight advantage Sony? Roll on E3!

I was a bit surprise to learn you guys don’t have a solution for your families on Android. So I decided to Share my setup.
First I setup a MAIN Google account to share among my family (not my personal account, and yes I had to rebuy a lot of my media back in 2010 when I made the switch from my personal account). This account will host all of my media (Games, Apps, Books, Magazines, Movies, TV shows, Music, Photos, Calendars, Storage). So far I have 13 Android devices on this account and soon 2 Nexus 4.
And setup a personal account for your family. This is good for Google+, Search History, and Youtube Videos. This help and makes it easier to parent your kids. This is the first account your will setup on an device upon first bootup and then you can add the media host Google account.

Games and Apps
When I purchase a games or app it’s available to my wife and kids (as long as the parental control don’t exceed the rating set on the device).
And with the latest inclusion of Gamepad support we often use our PS3 controllers.

Books and Magazines
Are also available to everyone.

Movies and TV Shows
Are also available to everyone to STREAM, but only 5 devices can pin them for offline viewing.

Music
I use Music Manager application on my Windows to upload updates to 20,000 songs and they are available to only 10 devices for streaming or pinning.

Photos
I use the Picasa application on Windows to upload unlimited photos as long as you leave it to the default setting of 2048 x 2048 pixels and it won’t count towards your free storage. I love how I can connect any camera (Canon EOS 40D) to my Galaxy Nexus with a OTG cable (2 dollars on amazon) and upload them to Picasa. Yea I’m the guy at events with a DSLR camera cutting everyone off to take the shot.
Calendars
This is one of my favorites features because if one of my kids have an event or activity at school they can add it to the calendar and we all know what our schedule look like, but everyone also has their personal calendar.

Storage
I use FolderSync on the Google play store to backup any device daily to any cloud storage service (Amazon S3, Dropbox, SugarSync, Google Drive, Ubuntu One, Box.net, FTP, Samba/CIFS/Windows Share). I love this app because you can set perimeters from extension to words/phrase on a file’s name, at the end, or within, or at the beginning of the file’s name to include or exclude from syncing.

Oh and did I mention all this is done wirelessly without connecting to any computer physically.

Hey guys love the show.

I use a GS3 until next week when the note 2 will be out. Bill how do you use android with your kids and wife seamlessly? We have 3 ipad’s, 2 touches, 2 iphones, 5 apple tv’s and a mac mini itunes server. They are all tied to one account and now with app and music auto updating it takes no input from me. I can buy a program/music on one device and it instantly shows up on all devices. We are visiting family this week and a cousin shows my kids a new app and of course they want it. I purchase it on one device and everyone has it.
I use kmttg with my tivos on my mac mini and it automatically records shows and puts them in itunes. I have smart playlists setup so it shows the 5 least recently played. My kids can then pull them up on there apple tvs.

I wish android would jump in and give us a whole family solution but until they do they will be in 2nd place.  Maybe you know of a way to share a google id without getting contacts and email?  I love technology but I want it to be as seamless as possible.
Thanks for the great show guys I just wanted to show that there is a good reason for some of us power users to use apple.

Jim
